Car Collides with Truck in Wall Township NJ, Motorist Killed
A Point Pleasant NJ man was killed in a fatal auto accident that involved a tractor trailer. The car crash occurred around 10:40 a.m. on Old Bridge Road in Wall Township, New Jersey.
The victim was driving his car, a Lexus, along Old Bridge Road and approached Route 70 when his vehicle collided with a tractor trailer. The Lexus reportedly slammed into the rear end of the tractor trailer, with the violent collision resulting in significant personal injuries to the motorist.
After the accident, someone dialed 911 and alerted local law enforcement. When Wall NJ police officers arrived at the scene, they saw that there was very little that could be done for the motorist. Emergency medical responders pronounced the victim dead at the scene of the car crash.
The victim was 79 years old when he died as a result of his accident-related injuries.
The driver of the truck involved in the accident is a 56-year-old man from Freehold, New Jersey. According to authorities, he did not sustain any injuries in the truck accident.
The Wall Township Police Department is currently investigating the fatal car accident and trying to determine exactly what might have led to the crash. At this time, police have not filed any criminal charges against the truck driver, nor have they cited him for any traffic violations. However, the investigation is in its preliminary stages.
Regardless of the outcome of the police investigation, it is possible that the family members of the victim in the truck accident could potentially file a wrongful death claim against the truck driver. However, a major factor in any lawsuit would be the circumstances that led up to the crash. For instance, if the truck driver was acting negligently or recklessly and caused the accident, he could be liable for damages.
