Drazin & Warshaw Attorneys Secure $7.6M Across Two Monmouth County Settlements

HAZLET, NJ – Drazin & Warshaw attorneys Christopher R. Brown and Ronald Drazin secured settlements of $1.8 million and $5.8 million in two separate serious personal injury cases filed in the Superior Court of New Jersey, Monmouth County.
Brown served as designated trial counsel in both matters. Drazin handled settlement negotiations in the $1.8 million case and was equally involved in the $5.8 million case. Both matters were resolved shortly before their scheduled trial dates.
$1.8 Million Premises Liability Settlement
The $1.8 million settlement was obtained on behalf of a 69-year-old woman who fell on a broken concrete sidewalk while exiting an office building.
She sustained a trimalleolar ankle fracture that was initially treated with an external fixator, followed by surgery involving plates and screws. Four months later, her right tibia spontaneously fractured at the site where an external pin had been implanted, requiring another surgery involving a rod and screws.
Her leg injuries altered her gait, after which she developed low back pain and was diagnosed with a herniated disc. She subsequently underwent pain-management treatment and lower-back surgery.
The plaintiff’s liability expert concluded that the sidewalk had been negligently maintained. The defense argued that the plaintiff was comparatively negligent but did not retain a liability expert. Defense medical experts ultimately conceded that the subsequent tibia fracture was causally related to treatment of the original injury, while the relationship between the fall and the plaintiff’s back surgeries remained contested.
The case settled for $1.8 million on May 28, 2026, shortly before its scheduled June 1 trial.
$5.8 Million Pedestrian Accident Settlement
The $5.8 million settlement was obtained on behalf of a 37-year-old pedestrian who was struck by a truck while walking in a crosswalk. The truck ran over his legs, causing open fractures to his left leg and degloving injuries to his right leg.
He underwent complex surgical repair of the fractures and extensive reconstructive procedures to treat the injuries to his right leg. He also sustained a nerve injury that caused drop foot and clubfoot and continues to undergo rehabilitative therapy. As a result of his injuries, he is permanently unable to return to his employment.
The matter settled for $5.8 million on June 3, 2026, shortly before its scheduled trial.
