Toll collector injured when struck by a truck at turnpike

Some places of employment can pose risks and dangers. These are usually reduced when employers provide specific training and safety features in the workplace. According to a recent report, a toll collector working at a New Jersey tollbooth was injured when a truck struck her. It was presumed that the toll collector was outside of the booth when the small tractor-trailer collided with her. Emergency crews responded to this incident and transported the injured female worker, who was suffering from major trauma, to the hospital at around 11 a.m. The incident caused major delays in both directions on the turnpike.

Authorities are still investigating the incident and further details were not immediately available. However, a worker injured in an accident like this may be able to file a workers’ compensation claim for on-the-job injuries. Not only would this benefit help cover the medical expenses, but it could also assist with the costs of rehabilitation as well as cover any lost wages while the employee is recovering.
