Depending upon whether the brain injury was caused by a closed head injury or was a result of some object piercing the skull and damaging the brain, the long-term effects can be devastating. The individual may suffer from severe cognitive impairment that limits their ability to work, live independently, or even interact with family and loved ones. Additionally, severe brain injuries can impact an individual’s motor skills, making them dependent upon assistive devices such as walkers or wheelchairs.

What Do Brain Injuries Mean to Those That Are Injured?

The limitations that can arise from the injury can mean the individual is never able to work again, or at least unable to continue the profession they were in prior to the injury.
